A group of inmates from the Cremona prison set fire to the cells, apparently to protest because of the failure to administer a psychiatric drug. The flames spread involving two detention sections on two floors of the building, the second and third, and making it necessary to evacuate about 80 people. It took the firefighters a few hours to put out the fire. During the operations, the police and carabinieri monitored the perimeter of the building.
The fires and evacuations – The inmates set the fires in the cells at a previously agreed time and eighty of them were transferred to the promenades and other wards.
