Other controversies and other irregularities lie ahead due to two new speed cameras in Salento that will soon make their debut on the state roads. The first is that already installed on the SS 613 Lecce-Brindisi in the territory of the Municipality of Surbo. After being noticed by many motorists, in transit in the direction of Lecce and after the affair has caused yet another wasp of controversy on social media, the mayor of Surbo Ronny Trio, through his facebook page, has informed the citizens and those who travel that busy stretch of road that the plant is not yet active and that it will give official communications as soon as it is operational. Despite this reassurance of the first citizens, however, many remain unconvinced and point out how the signs, which it should warn motorists of the presence of the fixed speed detection station, it is not visible as it is hidden by brambles and placed many meters from the edge of the roadway. Now, we just have to wait to see if and how the problem will be solved.
Speed cameras in Salento, the second detector

The second one speed cameras in Salento it should go into operation by the summer. It is about the one along the Statale 101 Lecce-Gallipoli, in the territory of Galatina, towards Santa Maria di Leuca. The decision to install it was taken by the municipal council in January 2020 and today the municipality is still awaiting the release of the authorization by Anas. Of course, the electronic eyes will check the speed of passing vehicles and, in case of exceeding the maximum limit allowed equal to 110 km per hour, they will trigger the sanction against motorists that do not respect the Highway Code.
