Speech by Emiliano D’Amato – 5 star movement
It took almost 13 years to allow the administrative island of Taranto, on the border with the north-east part of Pulsano (contrada Palumbo) to become the territory of Pulsano. An important achievement that gives dignity to some dozen families who have always lived in this area. Although living in Pulsano in fact, for decades the resident population was forced “by law” to use the services of Taranto much further away territorially. Moreover, services are often non-existent.
The battle began in 2010 with a letter sent to the Municipality of Taranto in which some citizens asked for the necessary services in the area. Having received no answers, in December 2013 the councilor Emiliano D’Amato officially asked for a meeting between the parties (involving the Municipality of Taranto and the then Mayor of Pulsano, the councilor for the branch and the sector manager) to evaluate a possible annexation of the administrative island to Pulsano.
Subsequently it was the turn of the ex councilor of Pulsano Menza who worked with dedication to arrive at the issuance of two specific resolutions in the respective municipalities, with which an agreement was proposed that would allow the sale of the territories to Pulsano in order to have the services offered in exchange. by the Municipality (connection to the utility purifier first) in the remaining administrative islands near the coast.
Finally, the current regional councilor Di Gregorio has worked to ensure that the annexation process ends positively, arriving at the popular referendum held last Sunday and called by the Puglia Region. Obviously the result is discounted.
The story told so far is a page of good politics that has been possible thanks to the work carried out from below by the citizens of the area, in the form of a committee represented by Giovanni Mitruccio who has been able to involve the politicians most sensitive to the matter independently from time to time from the political color of belonging. A job that today, finally, will allow the population of this area to have basic rights recognized on Pulsano: from the right to vote to services (street cleaning, sewer, etc…). “The regret remains that, given the length of the process, many people, despite having embraced the cause, will not be able to enjoy its fruits as today it is no longer there.”Mitruccio commented on the matter.
It is a historical result that the Alto Salento club (supporters of the M5S) welcomes positively; every action done for the good of the people can only please and goes in the political direction that the group has taken. (Press release)
