“More than 1,500 civilians were killed in the Kiev region alone during the Russian occupation, to date 1,200 bodies have not been identified: 75% of them are men, 2% children and the rest women.”
This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian National Police (Npu) Igor Klymenko in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“We have received reports from all over the country and opened criminal proceedings for the deaths of over 12 thousand people found mainly in mass graves – he explained – a large number of victims were discovered at home, death due to injuries”, but precisely on mass graves Klymenko stressed that it is too early to talk about definitive figures, “because every week the police find bodies”.
“In Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel and Borodyanka there were many killed people lying on the street: snipers fired from tanks, armored vehicles, despite the white bands that people wore on their arms as the Russians had imposed,” he added. Klymenko.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces are blocked in Severodonetsk and “those Ukrainian military units that are there have two options: to follow the example of their colleagues and to surrender, or to die. They have no other option ”. He said this in a press meeting, as reported by Ria Novosti, the deputy head of the People’s Militia Department of the self-styled Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin. According to him, yesterday the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces blew up the last bridge connecting Severodonetsk with Lysychansk, and now they cannot leave the city.
According to the Ukrainians, Russian forces destroyed the bridge between Severodonetsk and the nearby twin city of Lysychansk. thus effectively preventing the possible evacuation of many civilians along that trajectory. In particular, the governor of the Lugansk region, Serhiy Gaidai, said that the Russian military destroyed a bridge connecting the two cities and that at the moment only one of three bridges connecting the two cities remains viable.
According to Gaidai, the Russians currently control 70% of Severodonetsk and the mass evacuation and transport of rubber goods due to the bombing are impossible. “The Russians totally control most of Severodonetsk. The fighting is so fierce that the fight can last a day, not even on the street, but only for a skyscraper. Azot has around 500 residents, 40 of whom are children. The industrial area is heavily bombed by large-caliber enemy artillery, ”wrote Gaidai.
Gaidai added that the refugees in Azot are not as strong as those in Mariupol’s Azovstal, so “the authorities and the military are trying to carry out an organized evacuation with security guarantees”.
