A little more than 24 hours after the terrible discovery of the 75-year-old found dead at home in Castrì di Lecce, the yellow thickens more and more and continues to be investigated to come to grips with a disturbing story and with several dark sides all to be defined. What is certain is that Donato Montinaro, a retired carpenter, was found lifeless in the kitchen, tied hands and feet to a chair with plastic straps, his head hooded, his pants down and wearing a diaper. Those who saw the scene spoke of a gruesome vision for what, now there are very few doubts, was a brutal murder. To support this hypothesis are the stab wounds found on the body, and especially on the face, of the elderly. Investigators seem to exclude the hypothesis that it led to a robbery ended up in the blood, also given the lack of break-ins in the entrance door and inside the house. This also leads us to think that it was the elder himself who opened the door to his executioner.
We therefore focus on the past of the man involved, a few years ago, in events related to sexual violence and a theft of wood. The most probable hypothesis, at the moment, is that of a personal revenge or a punishment for some wrong done in the past. The investigations, however, go to the heart and will continue until we have certain answers. The investigators cannot count on the help of the man’s neighbors who, according to what they have learned, have not heard or seen anything. The last people to have seen Montinaro were the sister and the caregiver who allegedly left the house, where the murder took place, late Friday evening.
