D.on the evening of June 20, also in the areas of Nesima Inferiore – Cibali – Borgo Sanzio, citizens must exhibit the waste separately according to the weekly calendar and in the manner indicated in the leaflets that are being distributed at home.

From next Monday, in the evening hours, it becomes mandatory to expose waste to already separate daily fractions and in a bag, transparent if possible, in front of your home or door of the condominium, as established for that day.
It is essential to respect the delivery calendar and to differentiate waste correctly by exposing the containers and / or transparent bags outside the door / gate from 10 pm on the day before collection and no later than 5 am. In the affected areas, the bins, which have often been transformed into micro-landfills, will be removed.

In fact, in the areas served by the door to door, it is not possible to collect waste containing different materials and at times and days different from the calendar.
“After Picanello, Ognina and Lungomare, areas where the bins have already been removed and two weeks the door-to-door collection has started – commented the councilor for ecology and the Local Police Andrea Barresi – in the Lotto Centro continue to Nesima Inferiore, Cibali and Borgo Sanzio, to increase the overall levels of differentiated waste in the city, which already today are around 25%, thanks to the good results achieved in the South and North lots, with average values of 42%. We are in a delicate phase of transition from an old system to a system, hoping that there will be no other emergencies caused by landfills; the protagonists of this phase are above all the citizens, called to collaborate to accelerate this virtuous revolution. Also in these areas – concluded Barresi – the tight controls of the Municipal Police will be increased, imposing the established sanctions, so that it is clear to everyone, that increasing the levels of separate waste collection is an unavoidable obligation for our city community which must absolutely improve the cleaning of public spaces “.
The new step, which concerns about 50,000 inhabitants and over ten thousand users, marks a new phase in the Centro lot, with the entry into the field of the Gema consortium which has won the seven-year tender for the largest portion of the City and finally closes the phase transition from proximity bins to door-to-door collection.
The final outlet also for the Centro lot is set for next September 1st, when all the bins in the entire city of Catania will disappear and the separate waste collection will be fully served with the door-to-door system, which entails a further increase in separate waste collection, more hygiene, less costs and respect for the environment.
