Fiom Cgil Taranto: ‘We believe that confrontation with Leonardo is no longer revocable’
On Wednesday 1 June, the Axist company – at the end of the trade union confrontation – revoked the dismissal procedure previously initiated for the 35 workers in force at the Leonardo Grottaglie plant. Axist, as well as the other related companies present on the site, will start the use of extraordinary shock absorbers.
We believe that this decision is positive and sensible, with the full awareness, however, that, to date, it represents a “buffer solution” for the workers affected and that in practice it postpones the problem for a year. In fact, from a production point of view, 2023 is likely to be the same as the current year, and we would therefore not want to find ourselves facing other types of discussions once the extraordinary cash period has also ended.
As FIOM-CGIL, we therefore believe that a comparison with Leonardo can no longer be postponed to define the future of the related industries and how it intends to safeguard in a structural way, as envisaged by the national Division agreement, the employment of the entire supply chain within of the perimeter of the Taranto site.
